The Academy of Western Artists in Gene Autry, Oklahoma has awarded KTNK in Lompoc, CA their prestigious “Radio Station of the Year” for excellence in programming, promoting real country music, western swing, bluegrass and cowboy music. The “Will Rogers Award” was presented to Mike Day, Owner/General Manager and morning DJ of KTNK in Irving, Texas on March 28th

Mike Day is President and General Manager of Radio KTNK in addition to his duties as morning DJ. Owning and operating a country music radio station has been a lifelong dream of Mike’s. After working for 33 years in the motion picture industry, Mike retired and bought KSMA AM 1410 in Lompoc, now known as KTNK.

Born in Denver Colorado, Rachel Hom was literally raised on radio. “My dad was a DJ for this little country station, KUPK Radio in Garden City Kansas. I grew up at the radio station, I made my radio debut when I was four singing “You are my Sunshine” on the Long-Tall Texan’s radio show.”
Steven Bucky Bucholz

Steven J. “Bucky” Bucholz was born on a farm in central North Dakota, and has had a large variety of careers and interests. He has worked for two tractor dealerships, played bass guitar in two bands, been on two country radio stations, worked for two department stores, and spent 20 years in the Air Force.
